All things in the world have a path they must follow that is determined by nature. In religion that path is called the way of God, while philosophy calls it truth, and science calls it the fundamental principle by which things arise. If people follow that principle or law they realize true peace and prosperity, but if they act in ignorance of it or while ignoring it, they perish for violating natural law.

To illustrate this with a familiar example, farmers can harvest crops precisely because they act in accord with seasonal changes as they pursue endeavors such as sowing seeds and working their fields. In the growing of rice, barley, or other crops, the same kind of immutable natural law is at work. Departing from the correct path will prevent one from harvesting as much as intended no matter how much fertilizer, care, or effort is expended. This goes for human beings, plants, or anything else. All things have their prescribed sequences and systems. On a larger scale, the sun's movement, the Earth's revolution and rotation, and the movements of the other planets also follow certain periodic paths, and our calendars are built upon them.

For this reason humanity has from long ago respected God and put great store in following the Divine Way, and has implemented and passed it on, but especially during the last period of less than a century the extensive development of the culture of material science has deluded people into thinking that everything can be achieved by human wisdom, which makes them hold natural law and the way of God in contempt and leads them into a headlong rush off the correct path, which is why humanity faces its present frightening cares.
Yet, no one has noticed this, and though it is the job of the clergy to lend guidance, clerics themselves ignore God and do not recognize His existence. Even though in their professional capacities they preach of God and the Buddha, clerics who in their hearts really believe are scarce.
Held hostage by superficial perceptions gained through vision that is incapable of discerning the essence of something even though only slightly removed, they give themselves over to fleeting emotions, and now we have our present chaotic situation.

The biggest mistake, and one that has infinite harm and no benefit for humanity, is the making of atomic and hydrogen bombs, which humanity cannot stop even while calling for their prohibition.
We are at a terrifying juncture where one step further could mean the error of using nuclear weapons in a war in which most of humanity would perish and human culture would be destroyed all at once. Should a chain explosion be concentrated on one side of the globe, the force might upset the gravitational balance among heavenly bodies and move the Earth as a rocket blast sends a satellite into space, and our planet might instantly disappear like a shooting star.
A look at each individual mistake shows that in education, medicine, economics, and whatever else, all have deviated from the central path and are in a condition in which improvement in one will induce worsening in another. We have brought about a chaotic situation that is out of hand.

Take medicine, for example. Illness occurs when we err in the workings of the environment, spirit, and flesh, which hampers our physiological functions. Although physicians should bring the ill back to the way of God and lend guidance allowing them to gain health, longevity, and true happiness, they do not perceive this, and cut out unsound body parts while doing nothing about the causes. Current medical practice is rushing headlong in a direction opposite to its original purpose, and because modern man believes this to be medical science, we are living in a truly frightening time.

If we were now to fully exploit the distinctive features of the spiritual science culture that Orientals have always had, bring humanity back to the way of God, and guide it down the correct path, it would resolve our present contradictions and chaos and allow a return by everyone in the world to finding common advantage, thereby leading to an ideal society of coexistence and co-prosperity. East Asian peoples have been assigned that important role.
Humanity the world over has received a huge boon from the Western material science culture until now. In response, and in the sense of repaying the West's kindness, we now have the vital role of using the Eastern spiritual science culture to show the world the correct way of God and deliver humanity from the chaos of today's world.
Shinreikyo began its activities to make that possible.

"Modern man has excessive self-confidence and invites disaster upon himself as he diverges from the way of God."
"Philosophical truth is known as the way of God in religion, and in science is the principle of existence; those who run counter to them will perish."
"Do not despoil the other; the other is your parent's body; the merging of you and the other creates the future you."
"It is difficult to collect worldly treasure, but everybody is endowed with the freedom to obtain fulfillment of the true self."
