All people must face death eventually, whether they believe in a religion or not. Death is a matter of concern for all the living. The solution to this problem has long been the primary object of religions. Regardless of the generation, the location, or religious differences, a person's last breath and heartbeat are invariably followed by phenomena such as a stiffening of the body called rigor mortis, the falling of body temperature, the smell of putrefaction, and the appearance of death spots. These phenomena have become established theory in the field of medical jurisprudence, and are thus considered proof of death.

Contrary to medical jurisprudence, however, these phenomena do not apply to Shinreikyo, whose believers can be cured of diseases and protected from accidents, in addition to living out their natural life spans. They achieve Sublime Transmigration, which differs considerably from the usual death phenomena. Shinreikyo believers can foresee their approaching deaths -- that is, the time when their lives in the present world will end -- and have lucid visions of the happy next life awaiting them. For this reason they can say farewell to their families, friends, and associates, and feel as if they are leaving on a pleasant trip. Since they are assured of life in the next world, there is no fear of death. After death they have no rigor mortis, no death spots, and no odor of putrefaction. The remains stay warm for as long as several days after death. Moreover, the features of the dead reflect a happy and noble peacefulness.

In Shinreikyo we have made a study of death phenomena in major religions of the world, and we have confirmed that while Sublime Transmigration is in fact the ultimate ideal of conventional religions, it has been attained only rarely. Even the holiest priests and saints could do nothing more than remove their own bad karma and achieve Sublime Transmigration themselves. It was almost impossible for them to help other people achieve such a transition. In the entire history of the world, there have been no other authentic records of one person helping many other people to achieve a peaceful transition into the next world.

Thanks to the emergence of Shinreikyo, all people are now liberated from death and can attain eternal salvation through Sublime Transmigration into the next world. This is, in other words, actual proof that we have realized the highest ideal of religion. From this we also know that the time has come when the impassable chasm between Heaven and this world vanishes and everyone is able to receive the infinite Divine Power.
